HomeBrew for the Wii is back

If you updated the the latest software version for the Wii via Nintendo then the chances are that this will have blocked you HomeBrew Channel. Do not fear - HomeBrew is back.

All you will have to do is install the latest HomeBrew Channel which consists of Wii Shop and IOS51 installer (of which there is a version 2 available with added BugFix).

NintendoExperience will be launching a series of blog posts in the coming weeks looking at the whole HomeBrew experience and benefits.

Stay tuned for more.

Then and Now: A Graphical Change Zelda

Lets start this off by looking at the graphical difference between some of the latest saga releases and their first appearance on the Nintendo games consoles. First to my mind was the massive difference between the first and current Zelda games:

Then: The Legend of Zelda - 1987 (NES)
The first in a tremendous series of games in the Zelda range. I though the best part of this game was dropping bombs by the rocks to reveal hidden passage ways, a tactic the games still use today. I also recently downloaded this on the Wii’s Virtual Console.

Now: Zelda - Twilight Princess - 2006 (Wii/GC)
The latest release in the Zelda catalog and the games have just got better and better over time. The Wii version really lets you experience the Zelda effect with swinging sword, if only you rode the horse link on G1 Jockey.

More Wii Tips

Here are a couple more Wii tips that you might not know about.

The Mario Fireball - If you’re downloading something from the Wii shop - be sure to look at what Mario is wearing. If he’s dressed in red and white (as opposed to his traditional red and blue), then you can make him chuck fireballs with the A button.

Photo Channel Easter Egg - To unlock a hidden hardcore mode in the Photo Channel’s jigsaw mini-game. Move the cursor over the number of pieces you want to split your photo into, but hold down the 1 button before you select the option. The resulting jigsaw will be split into 194 pieces, which makes for quite a challenge.

Fix Sync Issues - If you’re having trouble getting a new or friends Wiimote to sync with your console, there’s a way to make the Wii completely forget about all the remotes it’s paired with so that you can start afresh. Turn the Wii off and unplug it from the wall. Wait 30 seconds, then plug it in and turn it on again. When the Health & Safety warning pops up, open the flap on the front of the Wii, then press and hold down the red SYNC button for 15 seconds. And that’s it - all the synced controllers will be forgotten. Then pair all your Wiimotes with the console using the standard method.

There you go, a couple of pointless ones but its something to show your mates.

Retro cover for the Wii

Now this brings back some memories. Check out the images below:

Wii - How To: Email your friends Wii Console

Wii - How toThere are a few things that are not included in the Wii console handbook so here we hope to expose the most useful of these functions included in a simple how to post. Keep an eye out as more of these will appear over time.

Emailing your friends Wii Console:

The hard part here is simply remembering all your friends Wii friend codes, once you’ve mastered that then the rest is simple. All you have to do is add a “w” to the front of the code, so email:

w[friendcode)@wii.com
w1234567891011@wii.com

There you go nice and simple and emails to your Wii.

Right - The Time Has Come

This domain has been sat in my account for way too long so I thought it was time to get this place set up…..

…..welcome to Nintendo Experience, a blog in which I will share my experience past and present of gaming on the Nintedo’s. I hope you enjoy it and maybe have a laugh, probably at my expense and find something useful here.

No real plan bigger than that just yet but hopefully this place will grow into a great place for Nintendo lovers.
